MEET DARAIUS

Leadership for a better Campbell

Candidate Statement

As progress comes to Campbell, we must preserve the charm, diversity, and sense of community that made it where my wife and I chose to raise our children 32 years ago. As we grow, I will work to ensure progress reflects residents’ concerns and protects the quality of life that lets families thrive safely.

Campbell is facing challenges of affordable housing, traffic congestion, homelessness and state mandated growth. Many young adults can no longer afford to build their lives here. Growth without associated infrastructure improvements impacts our quality of life and gives us less time to focus on our families.

I believe deeply in community service, and I’ve been fortunate to serve in many ways. I’m most proud of my 30 years as a Scout leader in Pack 333 and Troop 330, supporting families and helping guide youth into capable, confident, responsible citizens.

If elected, I will strive for a Campbell that is Caring, Accountable, Smarter, Responsive, Better, Greener, Equitable and Livable. If we all change things within our spheres of influence, we can change the world.

We moved to Campbell in 1994; our boys went to Forest Hill, Rolling Hills and then Westmont High School. Lori and I just celebrated our 38th anniversary and love living in Campbell . After working all over the world, my parents moved to Campbell to retire and have resided in our multi-generational family home.

Upon moving to Campbell, my first volunteer experience was as a parent in the class rooms at Forest hill school, that then expanded to helping my sons Cub Scout Pack 333 first as a Den leader and then as a Cubmaster. As they grew up and became boy scouts in 2000, I became a leader in Boy Scout Troop 330, and have been Scoutmaster since 2008.

I believe in helping our youth develop their Character, Citizenship, Personal Fitness, and Leadership and have enjoyed seeing our kids grow into productive members of society.

Career

I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, I have owned my own Software development business for over 30 years. We specialize in Software development for medical devices. The focus on helping other people continues in my professional life as well. I have worked on software for St. Jude Medical's  implantable cardioverter-defibrillator ( ICD ). NeuroPace's RNS System for treating epilepsy, Autonomic Technologies Neurostimulator to treat Migraine and cluster headaches, Nevro Corporations Neurostimulator for treating chronic pain.

So it's safe to say that my focus on Quality of Life extends beyond my Candidacy to my volunteer life as well as my professional life.
